Earlier this weekend, there were at least 50 tornado reports during the outbreak in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and Tennessee, according to the Storm Prediction Center. Here’s the latest…

Almost immediately after the storm, Twitter did it’s thing and blamed the tornadoes on Rand Paul for not supporting climate change measures and previous disaster relief bills.

Our hearts are broken for all those suffering from last night’s terrible storms . I and my team will do all we can to assist local and state officials as they lead the immediate response, and will aggressively help families, businesses, and officials access recovery resources.

They then went on to criticize him for requesting Federal assistance. These critics lack the brain cells to realize a few points.

The critics won’t mention the pork attached to the bills that Rand opposed. There’s no better way to hide unnecessary pet projects than putting them on the back end of a disaster relief bill that no one reads.

Also, calling someone a hypocrite for refusing to pay into a system and then taking funds would be justified. However, asking for aid that you or your constituents paid into, is not being hypocritical. There is no option to opt out. It’s the system. It’s their money.

The same criticism was brought up when Ron Paul collected Social Security when he was eligible after being very vocal that the program should be shut down and turned over to the citizens for them to invest in their own ways. Dr. Paul had to pay into the system. It’s his own money he’s taking back. Same with Senator Paul.

Kentucky taxpayers have been paying into the system even if Rand opposed how it was funded, how it raised the deficit, or the reckless spending snuck into these disaster bills.

I’m not even going to get into the absurd criticisms about not supporting climate change measures. These people literally think they can control the climate when they can’t even control if votes are counted correctly.

Regardless of the noise from people with solutions that only include theft,  there is still an urgent need for help.
