With record number of people making the switch from government schools to homeschooling, private schools, and even unschooling… I thought it would be a good idea to give libertarian parents a few suggestions for books that explain concepts of liberty to younger audiences.

Below, you will find some outstanding resources for youngsters and great conversation starters for parents. Enjoy.

First, if you have been around the libertarian scene for awhile you may have heard of Julie Borowski from her popular YouTube channel, Token Libertarian Girl. Julie has entertained and educated countless people with her silly, yet thought provoking short videos. What you may not be aware of are the children’s books she has written.

Here is a link to her channel with a reading of her book, Nobody Knows How To Make A Pizza .

From her author page:

Julie Borowski has a passion for teaching kids about economics! Previously, she was an Economics Policy Analyst at FreedomWorks, a free-market advocacy group. She is well-known for her ability to break down complex ideas in a fun and simple manner. She has appeared on Fox Business News and her writings have been published at the Washington Examiner, Foundation for Economic Education, Townhall, and more.

Julie also has another book with a peaceful porcupine at the center of the story.

If you have already been searching for liberty books for your kids you probably have heard of the Tuttle Twins. The Tuttle Twins series puts complex economic ideas and liberty philosophy into stories that are easily digestible for young children. With 3 million books sold, author Connor Boyack has already introduced a hefty number of children to messages of liberty. The Tuttle Twin website states one of Connor’s motivations for creating the books…

“Just recently, an elementary school in my community plastered the wall with the ABCs of socialist activism — teaching kids terms such as “W is for woke,” “S is for social justice,” and “A is for activist.”

These radical messages work their way into school curriculum, movies, advertising, and social media platforms to persuade our impressionable children.

Parents like you struggle to find educational material that doesn’t lie about our nation’s history or teach that the government is the solution to our problems.

You want to help your children learn about true history, sound money, personal freedom and responsibility, entrepreneurship, individual rights, and more.”

There are 12 books in the series shown below.

Meet Ron Paul, by Mat Blankenship, is a biography of Ron Paul for youth. This book has amazing hand drawn illustrations and an easy to read style for those interested in the most influential libertarian of the modern age.

Marc Clair’s review from Lions of Liberty states the following review of Meet Ron Paul…

As we journey through the life of Ron Paul, the reader is introduced to many important concepts along the way. The terms Austrian economics, inflation and blowback may seem commonplace among libertarian nerds like myself, but these are concepts that most youth never even hear mentioned, and they sure as heck aren’t going to learn them in a government school! I didn’t even hear most of the ideas until I was well into my ’20′s, so introducing them to a younger generational at all would be tremendous progress.
